Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received an Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was appointed the chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. She has covered several notable stories over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform as well as an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled extensively with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
